Mike Greene is a U.S. Navy Veteran, who along with his business partners, Pat Borrico and Sam Heady, launched GBH Global, LLC in 2019. The company is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Palm Springs Florida that hires and trains top tier talent to bring innovative solutions to their customers’ most complex construction challenges. They serve any location around the globe, ensuring projects are completed in a safe and prompt manner, under budget.

Mike served 25 years in the military while also earning his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. He said the top leadership skills he learned in the military that prepared him to be a small business owner were leadership, communication, organization, “can do/yes” mentality, and design/innovative/out-of-the-box thinking approaches to problem solving. As the CEO/President of GBH Global, Mike has certainly found success through applying those skills in the new business that started in the height of a global pandemic.

His advice to other veterans considering entrepreneurship is to take the leap of faith, as you are better prepared for building a successful business than you realize. Understanding the difference between you and the successful business owner you admire is that they (the business owner) took their own leap of faith. The two additional pieces of advice he offers is to get formal business education, which is very helpful, and to research and utilize resources available to build a “team” of individuals and organizations committed to your success. He credits the Florida VBOC as being top of the list of valuable and essential resources. Other SBA resource partners assisting GBH Global have been the Boots to Business training program, the Veterans Institute for Procurement (VIP) – START program, the Orlando Chapter of the Small Business Development Center, and the Procurement Technical Assistance Center.

GBH Global Management has successfully been awarded multiple government contracts in less than a year of operation, and they are well on track to become a global firm that focuses on emerging markets as they work to improve infrastructure and commerce, both domestically and internationally.
